Whether we admit it or not, the way cancer is spreading, it looks like it will become one of the most common problems now. Cities fare worst with cancer. According to the Delhi Cancer Registry, major Indian cities such as Delhi, Kolkata, Pune and Thiruvananthapuram are the second largest cancer sites, while cities such as Bengaluru and Mumbai are the third leading destinations. The prevalence of prostate problems is increasing rapidly in India. And speaking of men, the second most common cancer in men is ‘prostate cancer’. Also, its share in all fatal diseases is 6.78 percent.
According to the statement issued by the organization, cancer projection data shows that the number of these cases will double by 2020. Prostate cancer is the second most common cancer among men in Delhi, accounting for 6.78 percent of all deaths.
In a statement, Prof. Dr. Anup Kumar, Head of Urology and Renal Transplant at VMMC and Safdarjung Hospital said, “Many men develop prostate problems as they age, as the gland does not grow during their lifetime. Regular prostate screening to check for BPH/prostate cancer as you get older.”
He says, “The age-specific PSA range in India is significantly lower than in Western countries. Prostate cancer diagnosis in India is still at a later stage. In India localized: 20-25 percent, locally advanced: 30-35 percent, metastatic : 40-45 percent (Safdarjung data) in Western countries it is localized: 60-65 percent, locally advanced: 20-25 percent, metastatic: 10-15 percent”.
“If you have urinary problems, discuss them with your doctor. Even if you don’t have symptoms of urinary problems, it’s important to identify or confirm any underlying causes,” says Dr. Kumar.
According to ICMR and various state cancer registries, prostate cancer in India is the second most common cancer among Indian men. In India the rate is 9-10 per lakh, much higher than other parts of Asia and Africa.
This is a matter of great concern to us and if we are not aware of this problem now, we will have to suffer very badly in the future. Along with our food and drink, we also have to take care of the environment. Avoid processed foods, adulterated milk, canned foods and plastic containers. Make our environment pollution and plastic free. Things like alcohol, cigarettes and gutka should be avoided. Anti-cancer diet should be taken. Cancer is a very big disease but caused by a small cause and we should stop that cause as we told you earlier. Eat foods that strengthen the immune system, as well as vegetables, fruits and vegetables that are high in antioxidants.
