Kingdom Season 3: Release Date, Cast and Everything You Need To Know

Season 2 of the 2019 Netflix release ‘Kingdom’ has attracted a lot of viewers, and the audience is eagerly waiting for the next season ever since. Although there is no official confirmation from Netflix yet but the word around is that the new cast for the show is hinting about the possibility of a new season. Earlier, season 3 was scheduled to release in 2020 but got postponed due to pandemic and currently prevailing lockdown situation.  As per the new information and updates, we can get season 3 in mid-2021.

Kingdom is a South Korean series released on Netflix in 2019. It is one of the first Netflix Original Korean dramas that marked its beginning on 25 January 2019 followed by season 2 in 2020. It is a period horror thriller, and the story revolves around the protagonist, Prince Lee Chang who comes across a building filled with dead bodies while he was out in search, investigating about his father’s illness. To his surprise he finds out that the bodies were not dead and would rise again.  The city is infected with some mysterious plague, zombies are overpowering and the prince is fighting to save his people and his throne.

Directed by Kim Seoung Hun, this terrifying K-drama is an adaptation of the web-comic series named “The Kingdom of the Gods”, written by Kim Eun-hee and illustrated by Yang Kyung-il.

In an interview, the shows writer Kim Eun-Hee said that ‘Kingdom’ is a series that gives her the energy to write more. She said that the cast has such great chemistry together and if the audience allows, the series can go up to 10 seasons. She also mentioned that Jun Ji Hyun will become a central role along with the main characters from season one and two.

The show has gained immense love and popularity since the beginning, and now, after an epic season 2, fans are impatiently asking for more. The show was even nominated for the Best Drama category at Baeksang Arts Awards (a comprehensive art award in South Korea) in 2020.

As the previous season marked the ending for some great characters, some actors won’t be seen anymore. However, the cast in season 3 is as follows:

Juhu Ji-hoon as Crown Prince Tang,

Bae Doo-na as Seo-bi,

Kim Sung-kyu as Young Shin-joon

Ryu Seung-ryong as Cho Hak-ju

Jun Ji-hyun too will appear in Kingdom Season 3 but her role is yet to be known.
