A small sneak peek of the Vampire Diaries

The Vampire Diaries, streaming on Netflix, had its season finale. In the final season, we can see Stefan Salvatore injected his brother Damon Salvatore played by Ian Somerhalder, with the Cure. What had become of Damon, the bad boy in the years that followed? The show ran for eight seasons long and featured a supernatural ensemble cast. They varied from vampires, werewolves, witches, hybrids, doppelgängers to sirens.

What is the Cure? What did it do?

In its final season, when Damon was injected with the Cure, it was meant to turn a vampire into a human. Quite interesting, right, how it turned an immortal into a mortal. Well, that is the beautiful and fascinating life, when one lives in a supernatural world.

According to Vampire Dairies Fandom, there is a witch named Qetsivah who came up with The Cure. By consuming this Cure, the vampire becomes humans again and loss their immorality. Now, when death comes, they will only die the ‘human way.’ The Cure was made up of Stefen Salvatore and Elena Gilbert’s blood, the two doppelgangers. When a vampire is injected with this blood, they come under a potent spell and won’t remain a vampire any longer.

Cast

Nina Dobrev as Elena Gilbert, who is a young orphan and falls in love with Stefan Salvatore, and later his brother, Damon, and both the brothers are vampires. This created a love triangle. Paul Wesley as Stefan Salvatore, who a kind and affectionate vampire. Ian Somerhalder as Damon Salvatore, who is the complete opposite of his younger brother Stefan. He is portrayed with selfish and manipulative characters, but later on, he commences to display a more caring side.
