Prince William and Duchess Kate will live in Windsor in the future so that the children have more freedom than in London.
London/Windsor – Britain’s Prince William and his wife, Duchess Kate, will move to Windsor with their family. With this announcement, Kensington Palace on Monday confirmed rumors that had been circulating for a long time.
All three of the couple’s children – George, 9, Charlotte, 7, and Louis, 4 – will attend the private Lambrook School near Ascot, Berkshire, from September.
In Windsor, which is around 40 kilometers west of London, the family will live in Adelaide Cottage – and thus much closer to William’s 96-year-old grandmother Queen Elizabeth II, who has now almost completely moved to Windsor.
William and Kate (both 40) made the decision primarily in the interests of their children, in order to enable them to live as normal a life as possible and give them more freedom, according to a royal insider source cited by the British news agency PA. Kensington Palace in London, where the Cambridges have lived so far, could resemble “a little a goldfish bowl”.
The move also means that full-time nanny Maria Teresa Turrion Borrallo and other staff will not be living under the same roof with the family for the first time. However, William and Kate continue to keep Kensington Palace as their working residence. Their country estate in Norfolk, in eastern England, will also remain. dpa
