Argentine tennis players Andrea Collarini, Facundo Bagnis and Facundo Mena advanced today to the second round of qualifying to enter the main draw of the US Open, the fourth and last Grand Slam of the year that will take place in New York from next Monday, by beating the Italian Marco Moroni, Taiwanese Wu Tung Lin and Russian Alexander Shevchenko. Instead, Renzo Olivo, Marco Trungelliti and Nicolás Kicker were eliminated.

Collarini, born in New York, United States, and nationalized Argentine, ranked 211 in the ATP world ranking, defeated Moroni (240th) 7-6 (4) and 6-4 after exactly 2 hours of play . Among the national tennis players who appeared yesterday at the start of the men’s classification, only Federico Delbonis (136th) advanced, who beat the Hungarian Zsombor Piros (158th) by 7-6 (10) and 6-0, and will play his next game tomorrow against the American Ethan Quinn (506th).

The fourth Grand Slam of the year will begin next Monday with the presence of six Argentines in the men’s singles draw: Diego Schwartzman (16th), Francisco Cerúndolo (27th), Sebastián Báez (37th), Pedro Cachín (66th) , Federico Coria (78th) and Tomas Etcheverry (86th)
