An endless climb. The Tour of Spain begins its 7th stage, Friday August 26, with 190 km between Camargo and Cistierna. For this mid-mountain stage, the peloton will have to deal with only one difficulty in the middle of the route: the Puerto de San Glorio, a first category pass and its 22.4 kilometers of ascent at an average of 5.5%.
A long and trying climb placed in the middle of the stage which could facilitate breakaways. At the top of the only climb, the fugitives will descend gently towards the finish at Cistierna, 64 km further.
Remco Evenepoel (Quick-Step Alpha-Vinyl), who only has a 21-second lead over his runner-up Rudy Molard (Groupama-FDJ) after his coup on Thursday, could be attacked from afar by his competitors. Defending champion Primoz Roglic (Jumbo-Visma), dropped in the final ascent on Thursday, could go on the attack to recover the red overcoat.
