Some 70 families were left without a drop of water yesterday as a result of a robbery suffered by the Gorina Drinking Water Cooperative in the early hours of the morning. As it was known, the vandalism attack affected the electrical installations and a board that is essential for the provision of water.

The Cooperative has three decades of experience, in which it was established as a reference entity in the area. However, on several occasions he suffered the consequences of criminal acts such as the one that yesterday left dozens of families without water.

Antonio Máspoli, administrator of the Cooperative, explained that “cables entered and vandalized a water drilling facility located on 486th Street between 145 and 148.”

As a consequence, he indicated that about 70 families were left without service.

The theft affected the electrical panels and the company asked the electricity distributor Edelap to control the state of the installation, since the external source of electricity was also damaged.

Specifically, damage was recorded in the electrical connection, part of the installation where a connection point is generated between the distribution networks and the final consumer’s supply installation.

A group of workers from the company showed up at around 11 in the morning to respond to claim number 4926557. At sunset they were still without service, the cooperative said.

It was not the first attack suffered by the cooperative. For example, in March 2020 one of the firm’s workers arrived at the room where a large part of the machinery that supplies drinking water to the residents of the town is located and discovered numerous pieces of damage that harassed the service.

At that time, the criminals stole the pump with which drinking water is pumped and then distributed to households that have these services to access the provision.
