The stoppage of buses continues and the services operate limited in the AMBA

The services provided by 100 bus lines in the Metropolitan Area of ​​Buenos Aires (AMBA) were once again affected this morning by the employer lockout carried out by three business chambers in the sector. The firms argue delays in the payment of subsidies, despite the transfers made from the Nation to correct these situations; and thousands of passengers have complications to move.

From 5 o’clock the service operates with reduced frequencies, similar to those on Saturdays, which caused very long lines of passengers from early on. This is the measure carried out by the Business Chamber of Passenger Transport (CEAP), the Business Chamber of Urban Transport of Buenos Aires (CETUBA) and the Chamber of Transport of the Province of Buenos Aires (CTPBA).

The interruption of the service during the night – from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. – and the reduction of frequencies during the rest of the days affects 100 of a total of approximately 400 bus lines that circulate in the (AMBA), with La Plata included .

This week, The Undersecretary of Economic and Financial Policy of the Ministry of Transport, Carlos Vittor, said that a payment of $3.9 billion had been made “on account of the debt with the urban passenger transport companies of the AMBA” and trusted in the prompt normalization of the services. “We are having a small debt in relation to the payments that we make on a regular basis; of those payments we are owing $6,000 million, half a month in total, $4,400 million from the national jurisdiction lines and $1,600 million from the city lines. from Buenos Aires,” he explained.

The official also demanded that the Government of the City of Buenos Aires “contribute its share” and added: “They say that we are in negotiations, that they collaborate with the financing, but they made a commitment to take charge in 2019 of subsidies and compensation, but they haven’t done it yet”.
