About twenty days separate us from the start of the school year for the year 2022-2023. The official date of the resumption was unveiled at the end of the last Council of Ministers, during which President Tebboune instructed the Prime Minister to coordinate between the Education and Health sectors, in order to determine the mode of lesson to be adopted during this new year. And this, between the renewal of exceptional teaching by groups set up during the Covid-19 pandemic and the return to normal teaching.
On September 21, students will return to their classes to start a new school year. However, the Ministry of National Education has not yet revealed the method of teaching to be adopted during the 2022-2023 school year.
Because, let us remember, since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic, the supervisory authority has set up an exceptional schooling system by groups and sub-groups to deal with the health situation that Algeria was going through, at the like other countries in the world.
However, our country has observed a marked improvement in the epidemic situation linked to Covid-19 and a significant drop in contamination in recent weeks. Thus, this improvement makes it possible to consider a possible return to normal education and normal school life.
Back to school 2022: Belabed meets education unions
In a statement given to the press on Thursday, on the sidelines of a consultation meeting with the approved trade unions in the sector on the method of teaching to be adopted during this school year, the Minister of Education noted “a clear improvement of the health situation in Algeria”.
Minister Abdelhakim Belabed insisted on “the need to listen to and consult the social partners” in order to decide on the method of teaching to be adopted. Like the approved unions in the education sector as well as the parents’ associations, as instructed by President Tebboune.
Moreover, the Minister of Education recalled the fact that “the Prime Minister will coordinate between the sectors of Education and Health who will present, during a meeting, all the opinions and recommendations, in particular those of the Scientific Committee for Monitoring the Evolution of Covid-19”.
Thus, at the end of this meeting, “they will decide on the method of teaching to be adopted before announcing it to the Departments of Education to take the necessary measures and manage to develop the timetables”, noted Minister Belabed. .
The Minister of Health in favor of a return to normal education
Last Tuesday, the Minister of Health, Abderrahmane Benbouzid, indicated that his department suggested the return to a normal teaching mode during the 2022-2023 school year, by renouncing the exceptional mode of teaching by groups and sub-groups. .
“We suggested that the new school year be normal. On the other hand, we are going to arm ourselves, because it is the Ministry of Health that oversees the prevention and protection of children,” said Minister Benbouzid, adding that “the vaccine, the masks and all the means necessary to deal with the epidemic are available”.
