Los Ardiles, Kiko and Jaime, presented their new album dedicated to The Beatles. The Creole singers covered the hits of ‘Los 4 de Liverpool’, to the rhythm of guitar and cajon. In addition, they said that they were always admirers of the British group and remembered that their musical beginnings were with rock.
“The album is called ‘squirrels’, which is a fusion of Squirrels and Beatles. We have covered these hits with a lot of Creole feeling. We are respecting the lyrics and sound of each of these songs created by Paul MCCARTNEY Y John Lennon”, affirms Kiko.
The result is an album in which we can find 10 classic songs from the Fab Four, recorded to the rhythm of guitar, cajon and castanets. The musical production is now available on all digital platforms
“Hearing these versions, Beatle maniacs from all over the world will pay attention to Peruvian music. It is a great showcase for our rhythms to transcend borders”, says Jaime
The album that is co-produced by the Ardiles brothers and the record label Play Music Peru; and, recorded analogically at the Amigos Studio.
As you remember, Los Ardiles had already released an advance with the single ‘Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da’ in polka rhythm, last June. Now they present the complete disc that contains covers of greatest hits like ‘Twist and Shout’ (celebration), ‘She Love You’ (polka), ‘michelle’ (waltz), ‘Girl’ (waltz), ‘And I Love Her’ (waltz), ‘Day Tripper’ (celebration), “Yesterday” (waltz), ‘Nowhere Man’ (waltz) and ‘If I Fell’ (waltz).
In addition, the Creoles commented that since their adolescence they have been admirers of The Beatles when one of their older brothers made them listen to the album of the English group, and in their beginnings they were rockers.
“For things in life we left rock and devoted ourselves to Creole music. At some point in our artistic life, Jaime said: ‘how cool it would be to make the music of the Beatles in waltzes or celebrations’. Edmundo Delgado, owner of the Amigos Studio, heard him singing ‘Let It Be’ and it was he who encouraged us to carry out the project”, reveals Kiko.
“When we were recording the pandemic came and everything came to a standstill, it was so that it was barely feasible we turned to finish the recording. We are very happy that after years of hard work, the album ‘squirrels’ has come to light”, added Jaime.
The release of ‘Arditles’ is accompanied by a documentary-type music video in which images of the live concert offered by Los Ardiles on the terrace of Bar Liverpool in Miraflores are interspersed -in the same style as the ‘rooftop concertthe last performance of The Beatles, made in 1969.
In the audiovisual, lasting more than 47 minutes, he narrates how Jaime and Kiko approached the Fab Four; and, the process of pre-production, recording and mastering of the album. Also included are statements from his special guest, the prominent musician and producer Edmundo Delgado, founder of the acclaimed local tribute show to The Beatles: “Un Día en la Vida”, with whom they also share the interpretation of the theme ‘Twist and Shout‘to the rhythm of a joyous celebration.
