With one round left to play, Ekenäs IF is practically ready for the upper end series in the football set. EIF beat SJK Akatemia away from home with clear numbers.
The final score was 0-3 (0-1).
Four times SJK Akatemia and Ekenäs IF have played against each other in football’s herretta. Each time the Ekenäs team has won.
It was on June 18 that EIF won for the last time with Mikko Manninen as coach. After that, there were six games without a win, until current coach Filipe Pedro took over. Under his leadership, the team had played four games without a loss before the meeting with SJK Akatemia in Seinäjoki.
Now Pedro has piloted his team unbeaten through five games.
The home team SJK Akatemia started the match energetically and also created a couple of chances in the first ten minutes of the match. Still, it was the guests who got it right first.
Sallinen scores
In the thirteenth minute of the match, Abdoulaye Kanté made a nice pass to the right for EIF captain Vldrin Rashica who hit a hard pass in front of goal. Oskari Sallinen slipped the ball in as nicely as possible.
A couple of minutes later the ball was in the EIF goal, but referee Jani Laaksonen disallowed the goal due to clear offside.

Just before the break, young Simon Lindholm showed off his skills. He made a solo raid and rounded two – three Seinäjokibacks and goalkeeper Tuomas Pöyhönen. However, his shot towards the empty goal was a bit too slow, so home defender Sami Sipola managed to save on the goal line.
EIF was the stronger team in the duels in the first half and somewhat dominated the match picture. The home team’s attacking play consisted mainly of hitting long balls to the attacking trio.
In the second half, EIF continued to dominate the match picture. Valdrin Rashica came closest to the goal when his shot hit the post just over ten minutes into the second half.
The air went out of SJK
The home team had a couple of halves, but when EIF scored their second goal of the day, the air went out of the SJK players, something that defender Sami Sipola also noted after the match.
– We had some opportunities, but when EIF scored their second goal, we lost our grip, Sipola said in Ruutu’s interview.
In the match report, EIF’s second goal was recorded as an own goal. Rashica fired a hard shot that caught an SJK player and slid into the goal via the crossbar.
The home team didn’t manage a final sprint, instead centre-back Bruno Miranda scored EIF’s third goal with a couple of minutes left to play. He headed in Karl Madianga’s corner from the right.
Mosawer Ahadi had a good match in EIF. He came to Ekenäslaget from the league team HIFK while the transfer window was open and is very happy in the team.
– Fun to play. It was a tough battle today, but after our second goal our victory was clear, Ahadi said in Ruutu’s interview.
EIF’s place in the upper final series is practically complete. Ahadi still expects a tough match against KPV in the last regular season round.
– These matches are even and it is small margins that decide, he says.
Forsström away from the next match
The Ekenäs team will have to do without centre-back Alexander Forsström in that match. He received a warning on Saturday and now has his warning account filled.
Whether midfielder Xhevdet Gela and striker Stanislav Efimov are in the match against KPV is unclear. Gela was ill on Saturday and Efimov has an injured rib.

In EIF there were many players who succeeded particularly well. Bruno Miguel is very confident in the air and his centre-back colleague William Lindqvist played safely as usual. Ahadi and Simon Lindholm did well, as did winger Yassin Daoussi. Attacker Valdrin Rashica is getting better and better as the season goes on.
In the home team, Denis Cukici showed evidence of good technique and centre-back Terry Yegbe is reliable. Vertti Hänninen flashed a few times, but the much talked about Brazilian striker Weslen Junior seemed very clumsy and selfish. In addition, he ran offside several times.
Jani Laaksonen judged in front of almost 300 spectators. The match protocol is available on the Ball Association’s website.
The highly interesting the series table can be found on Yle’s teletext on page 244.
The last regular season round is played on 3.9: MP – JäPS, Jaro – PIF, EIF – KPV, TPS – Gnistan, PK – 35-KTP and PEPO – SJK Ak.
