Warner Bros. Discovery has been pushing projects left and right, though no creative has likely felt the impact more than in the world of animation.

Numerous animated shows and movies have been canceled or removed entirely from HBO Max and other streaming homes. The cancellations have been controversial enough for the creatives themselves to speak out.

Owen Dennis, the creator of the “Infinity Train” animated series, which was pulled from both HBO Max and Cartoon Network (also owned by Warner Bros. Discovery), spoke about the situation in a post on his Substack.

The wave of cancellations continues on HBO Max and the most recent victim is the animated series BATMAN: CAPED CRUSADER, which would be produced by Bruce Timm, JJ Abrams and Matt Reeves. Recently, they also canceled the series YOUNG JUSTICE pic.twitter.com/Hic2bI4wRq

“Cartoon Network warned them not to do this as it would damage relationships with creators and talent, but they clearly don’t care how this looks publicly, let alone how we feel about it,” he wrote.

Other animated projects that met a similar fate include “Summer Camp Island” and “The Fungies.” An animated feature, “Scoob! Holiday Haunt” was also removed, reportedly for a tax deduction, via Variety.

The state of affairs at Warner Bros. Discovery is obviously worrying many fans of Japanese animation. In fact, one fan even tweeted a question to Jason DeMarco, co-creator of Cartoon Network’s popular programming block Toonami, about the fate of the Uzumaki anime adaptation.

Hopefully, DeMarco’s response will calm concerns from fans who feared the upcoming series would go the way of “Scoob! Holiday Haunt.”

The Uzumaki anime is not yet one of the shows to get the kick from Warner Bros. Discovery. When asked by a concerned fan if the anime series would be pulled before it had a chance to hit Cartoon Network, James DeMarco confirmed that production is still underway:
