Álex Flórez assured that he resigns from politics if he stars in a new scandal

In interview with BluRadio, the congressman from the Historic Pact said he would resign if he was involved in a similar scandal again: “Red card. If I get to have a new episode of these, I renounce politics. I withdraw from politics if I am in an episode of these characteristics again. I have made a promise for the country. This is not going to happen again”, he said on the live broadcast of BluRadio.

Additionally, the senator apologized and retracted what he said in the same medium, when he indicated that he had not been chosen to set an example: “I want to apologize to everyone. To the police, to their families, to the uniformed men with whom I spoke in private and in public. In addition, with the members of the institution, the hotel workers with whom I spoke and I thank them for the formality. In the interview, instead of accepting my mistake, I denied it. I apologizeFlorez added.

In the first interview and in his defense he said: “I was elected to make laws, not to be an example”. Finally, in the interview, he promised that for Colombians he would stop drinking:

“I promised the country, 50 million people, myself, that I will not have a drink again from September 2, 2022. That is something that is not going to happen again, I am with the firm intention of staying focused and showing a version of myself that is the one that the country is waiting for, the one that you are waiting for and not the one that I showed”, he told reporters from Blu Radio. The senator said resigning would send a bad message to people struggling with this addiction.

The politician published a video on his social networks in which he says that he is fighting this disease for a long time, but dropped out of treatment and relapsed.

“Today I want to admit to all of you that I have a problem with liquor. I refused to accept the problem, because this is a socially accepted condition that is not given sufficient importance from the public health approach and what it means to suffer from it. I have hit rock bottomFlorez said.

Alex also publicly apologized to the police officers he assaulted: “You are good policemen and I was disrespectful At no time should I have hindered the procedure that was being carried out, but the drinks, the truth, did not allow me to even be aware of it. I want to retract, very clearly, the statements I have made when calling them murderers, calling them human rights violators, calling them thieves”, he stated at a press conference.
