Have you ever wondered why men withdraw in the early stages of dating? Things seem to be starting off great. The guy keeps calling or texting you, telling you he really likes you; he says he hasn’t had feelings like that since his last serious relationship etc. He gives you all these signs that he really likes you and then at some point he just seems cold and distant. Why is that?
I’m going to let you in on a little secret now; Many men are insecure. One reason a lot of guys say all those nice things and tell you how interested they are in you is because they just want to find out if you really like them; They will tell you they have strong feelings and then see how you react. Are you really excited when they say something like that, or do you back down? Not all men play these types of games and many men don’t even realize they are doing it, but many men are unsure and try to get information. They want to know if you like them or not.
The problem is that once a man has the information he’s been fishing for, he can start changing. In the early stages of a relationship, everyone wants to be liked. People often put up a front and try to project a personality of the kind of person they think other people would be interested in. Once a man realizes that you really like him, he will drop the show and start being himself. That can be a good thing, but once that happens, the dynamic of the relationship can change, and not always for the better.
Another reason men withdraw in the early stages of dating is that some men just aren’t ready for a serious relationship. If they feel things are moving too fast, they will start to withdraw. Other men just want to enjoy themselves, and once they get what they want, they lose interest.
The real trick is to find someone who genuinely wants a serious relationship and someone who doesn’t guide you and play games. When you’re dating a guy and things seem to be going well and then he suddenly backs off, you need to say something. Confronting a man about this topic may be uncomfortable, but if he’s genuinely interested in you, he’ll want to work things out. If he just blows your feelings away and tells you not to worry, or if he gets angry and starts fighting, he wasn’t the right guy for you anyway and it’s best to end this relationship and to carry on. If that’s the case, at least it happened in the early stages of the relationship, before things got too serious.
