Public relations webdesk. The incidence of heart attacks among young people seems to have increased slightly in recent times. Recently, many young artists have lost their lives due to heart attacks. Whereas Sonali Phogat, erstwhile TV actor Dipesh Bhan, famous singer KK died of heart attack. Earlier, many stars died due to heart attack, but Bigg Boss fame Siddharth Shukla’s death shocked everyone. After which the question in front of everyone was what is the cause of heart attack at such a young age?

To understand this, we asked Dr. Fortis Memorial Research Institute, Director of Non-Invasive Cardiology, Gurugram. Spoke to Vinayak Agarwal. So let’s find out what they have to say about it.

Dr. Aggarwal said, 25% of people under 40 years of age and 50% of people under 50 years of age in India are at risk of heart attack, which is indeed a CVD epidemic and a major health challenge in modern times. already happened.

According to a study published in 2016 in the journal Circulation, cardiovascular disease (CV) remains the leading cause of death in India. Ischemic heart disease and stroke account for 80% of deaths due to CV disease. Outbreaks of the disease have been noted in Punjab, Tamil Nadu and Kerala. In India, CVD is on the rise at a younger age and the risk of death due to it is also increasing. Moreover, the disease burden has increased substantially in rural/poor states as well.

What are the reasons behind this?

– Excessive tobacco use

– Less consumption of fruits and vegetables in the diet

CVDs are increasing due to factors such as unnecessary cardiac medical care

Likewise, a sedentary lifestyle,

– Diabetes

– High blood pressure

– High cholesterol

– smoking,

– irregular sleep,

– A more stressful environment

– Family history of coronary artery disease

More serious heart attacks in youth

All these risk factors are higher in India’s youth population. Avoiding high-carbohydrate and high-fat foods and reusing or reheating leftover oil increases the amount of trans fat present, which is harmful to health and also increases the risk of CVD. On the other hand, the combination of environmental exposures (such as tobacco use) with genetic factors (genes) also increases the risk. The Risk Activity Trial (2014) identified smoking as the leading cause of death within one year in heart attack patients.

More severe heart attacks (ST-elevation) occur in young adults, are more common in males, smokers, family history/CAD, lower educational attainment and those who live alone.

The number of deaths due to heart disease is increasing

According to the Global Burden of Disease Study, there has been a 34% increase in deaths due to cardiovascular disease (CVD) in India over the past 25 years. A cohort study of 33,583 people aged 35–70 years in India, Bangladesh and Pakistan found that CVD was the leading cause of death in South Asia (35.5%). A higher incidence of CVD and mortality was observed in rural areas and among males. As far as countries are concerned, Bangladesh has recorded the highest number of CVD cases, while Pakistan has the highest death rate. Major risk factors for CVD include high blood pressure, high non-HDL cholesterol, diabetes, abdominal fat and indoor air pollution, malnutrition and tobacco use.
