The power of being present in a relationship

Dog Behavior Series 7 – Why Do Dogs Shake?

Animals are healers

Did you know that a cat’s purr has healing powers?

I have always maintained that animals are highly intelligent, sentient, rational, spiritual beings – and they are natural healers.

They are tailored to our physical and mental well-being. If we take the time to learn how they communicate, they have the ability to help us heal…

… and to tell us when they are in pain.

Why do cats purr?

Most people associate a cat’s purr with happiness. And this is one of those times when you’ll hear your sweet kitty purr…when she’s content and curled up on your lap. Makes you happy too, doesn’t it?

However, pet owners should be aware that cats also purr when they are feeling anxious and when they are sick and in pain.

It can be misleading… and can lead to lasting suffering for your poor cat if you don’t pay attention to the signal they are sending you.

Because it’s true that a purr is comforting… when they’re not feeling well, they try to soothe and comfort themselves.

But that soothing purr goes deeper than a soothing sound — there’s more science to it than you might think.

They don’t purr to calm themselves like we would listen to soothing music…

…because scientists have found that all cats around the world purr at a specific healing frequency.

The healing frequency of a cat’s purr

Research has shown that all domestic cats—and most wild cats—purr at exactly the same frequency. Their purr ranges from 20 hertz to 150 hertz.

Amazingly, these frequencies match and match the optimal conditions our body needs to heal damaged tissues and bones.

In fact, the medical community has taken note of this and has developed similar frequency emitting devices to help heal broken bones and other types of problems.

This is because our cells actually change shape and repair themselves faster when exposed to these frequencies.

We’ve all seen cats parked across the room with acrobatic leaps… it’s hard to believe they don’t snap a joint or strain a muscle that twists into a pretzel in the process.

When you understand the medical reason why cats purr, it turns out they may have harmed themselves… and their purring emits a frequency that helps heal the torn muscle or sore hips.

In fact, some researchers have concluded that this is one of the reasons veterinarians have to perform fewer major surgeries on cats compared to dogs… Cats have a trick up their sleeve, a healing superpower.

Because animals are natural healers, keep in mind that if your cat curls up and purrs on your legs, chest, or one of your arms, it’s trying to share its healing superpower with you.

Animals want to share their healing powers.

My late husband always loved snuggling with our one cat, TuffyTiger, a sweet, big hearted gray tabby.

It was the weirdest thing… every time he rested, she would lay on him in a certain spot, stretched across his chest, purring as best she could.

She snuggled up to him and ended up always laying over his right side…over his liver.

It went like this for years. He always felt refreshed after resting with TuffyTiger, who would snuggle up to him and purr her heart out.

After 18 years together we split up. Not long after, he suffered from chest and abdominal pains and sadly later discovered he was suffering from inoperable ‘bile duct’ cancer. In fact, his body was riddled with cancer.

Over the years, our cat TuffyTiger had shared her healing power with him through the power of her purr, relieving pain, improving his health and well-being.

And when he lost access to her daily beneficial care, the cancer grew at an alarming rate. He died a few months later.

Pay attention when a cat is working on your body

I’ve learned to notice when an animal is interested in me, particularly in a certain area of my body… what are they trying to tell me?

So often the animals I meet tell me that their human seriously underestimates their intelligence and intuition.

Whether you are learning to talk to your pets, asking an animal communicator like me to talk to your pet, or simply trying to stay tuned in to the messages they are trying to give you, there is so much to learn.

Animals are spiritual beings – a window into your soul and a reflection of your state of being.

Listening and paying attention to your cat’s purr opens a doorway to knowledge, understanding, and healing.
