Public relations webdesk. Hartalika Teej is celebrated in India just a day before Ganesh Chaturthi. Teej will be celebrated on August 30 this year. On this day, married women pray for long life of their husbands as well as observe a fast and worship Parvati and Lord Shiva. This fast is considered more difficult than Karva Chauth. In this case, pregnant women should be more careful while fasting. Here are some tips that pregnant women can follow.
This is how Hartalika Teej fast can be observed during pregnancy
According to belief, women have to observe a ‘Nirjal’ fast on Hartalika Teej. However, many pregnant women also want to observe this fast, so they are advised not to do ‘water’ fast as it affects the health of both mother and baby. In such a situation, you can fast with fruits instead of waterless fasting. In which you can eat fruit, water regularly even if you don’t eat grains.
Keep these things in mind while fasting
1) Keep yourself hydrated- Although women observe ‘Nirjala’ fast on Hartalika Teej, it is not suitable for pregnant women. So keep yourself hydrated if you are fasting. Keep drinking fluids like juice and water throughout the day.
2) Avoid Tea-Coffee- Often people drink tea and coffee during fasting, but this should be avoided completely. It can cause heartburn or gas problem. You can drink coconut water, yogurt or milk instead.
3) Eat fruits – during pregnancy should not be on an empty stomach for long. So don’t go on an empty stomach and eat fruits that fill your stomach and keep you hydrated.
4) Don’t starve- While fasting remember that your baby depends only on your food, so don’t skip food completely during fasting. You can eat something after a while
