4. Only in Carmel is Carmel Canines, a mobile pooch salon and health spa that offers canine manicures and pedicures for four-legged, furry creatures.
5. Eat together
Owned by Doris Day, the Cypress Inn welcomes well-behaved dogs in the lobby for breakfast with their owners. They also offer a daily Doggie Cocktail Hour in the Library Bar. The Cypress Inn displays a “Dictionary of Dogs” near the fireplace just in case you want to read up on your spoiled pooch breed.

6. A few places to rest yourself and your pup’s paws
The Vagabond House Inn offers dog amenities including a portable dog bed, take-along toys, treats, bowl and scarf. Breakfast is delivered to your door in the morning and there is a wine and cheese tasting in the lobby in the afternoon. Stay in a two room suite with a queen bed, couch, desk and fireplace. There is also a refrigerator, a coffee maker and a dining table. The luxurious bathroom has a full shower and separate bath and Elemis toiletries. Some rooms are at street level, so you can easily take your dog outside.

Svensgaard Inn offers European ambience, 35 guest rooms and suites, half of which are pet-friendly, some rooms have fireplaces and jetted tubs and kitchens. There is on-site parking, which is very important in Carmel. Coffee, tea, hot chocolate and biscuits are available in the lobby in the afternoon and a delicious cold breakfast is delivered to your room until 8am. Hofsas house is a four-storey house in Bavarian style a house built on a hill overlooking the sea. It is a family run and oriented inn with artistic murals in keeping with the Carmel community. There are 38 rooms, 19 are pet friendly. Dogs are allowed at the pool with their owner. There is a meeting room for 25 to 30 people for business meetings, women’s groups, knitting groups, sewing groups, quilting groups and the meeting room has a fireplace and a fully equipped kitchen.
