Cats are probably the lowest maintenance of all pets and the simple reason is that they are very independent, undemanding and very self sufficient, but which cat should you choose? Pedigree cat or mixed breed cat?
Different breeds of cats
Purebred cats are usually acquired on purpose rather than accidentally and tend to be more carefully monitored than most mixed breed cats. They may be more prone to overfeeding and lack of exercise.
Your character is an important consideration. The Foreign and Oriental breeds, particularly the Siamese, are atypical of cats in that they are loyal to a person from whom they clamor a lot of attention. Some are notorious for being very noisy cats, especially the females when calling, but their undeniable grace and intelligence outweigh this disadvantage for most people.
Orientals are also unusual in that they allow themselves to be exercised off a leash. Long-haired cats, whether purebred or mixed-breed, are demanding in that they should be groomed at least once a day. In fact, followers of long-haired breeds often groom them two to three times a day.
Different breeds of mixed-breed cats:
Most domestic cats are mixed breeds and very often they are spontaneously adopted by a family. Such easily acquired cats may not be vaccinated against the infectious diseases or dewormed.
Once you’ve acquired one, you should take it to your veterinarian for an examination and then neutering. It should be clear that while adoption costs nothing at all, once they are brought into your household they will cost just as much as any other cat.
However, there’s no reason why these mixed breed cats shouldn’t make adorable companions for us. Many mixed breed cats are beautiful and all are graceful in their own way. You will find that almost all mixed breed cats are very low maintenance. Mixed breed cats tend to be stronger than overbred cats, mixed breed cats are a product of immature parents and you will find that their kittens are usually undersized.
