These dogs excel at sports like herding, karting, flyball, and agility. The American Rottweiler is a relatively healthy breed of dog. He is prone to hip dysplasia like other large dog breeds and he has had a predisposition to cancer for the last several decades. If moles or bumps suddenly appear on his body, be sure to take him to the vet for a thorough check-up.
Reputable American Rottweiler breeders shouldn’t be hard to find. They can usually be found on the internet, through recommendations from other Rottweiler owners, through your vet, and through the American Kennel Club. These breeders should socialize their puppies with their own families to adapt them to humans. They should be able to answer all of your questions about the breed and will usually turn the tables and ask you lots of questions to see if you are ready to own an American Rottweiler.
There are German Rottweiler breeders and American Rottweiler breeders and if you have done your homework sufficiently you will know the distinct difference between the two. It’s a good idea to speak to the breeder about the two types of Rottweilers.
These dogs make great pets and their size makes them excellent watchdogs. They are unaware of their size and when their humor gets through it’s pretty silly.
